It seems that Adobe AIR has problems supporting HTML 5. Are there any updates on fixing this?

R
Answer by Robert Polubinski

There isn't a proper fix for this issue. Currently, I have seen that Adobe AIR and HTML 5 go along nicely on various websites, but if you experience crashes, then it's possible you're using either an outdated Framework which needs to be installed, or the developer of the website needs to re-code the entire website or HTML5 parts to meet the requirements.

Yes, Adobe AIR is working with HTML 5. According to the various websites listed on the Internet, Adobe AIR has been working on HTML 5 integration. Adobe developers made API and the libraries compatible between each other.

You can use the sample code on Adobe website to see how it works: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/AIR/1.5/devappshtml/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d118666ade46-7ecc.html

Does AIR still work with Adobe Flash? Since thre's been this controversy, Flash player et cetera will most likely lose support.

A
Answer by Alex Urbach

Adobe Air and Adobe Flash are two different working technologies, that have different working mode because of the platforms they're build. But, Adobe didn't cease the support for both plug-ins. Adobe AIR is still developed and Adobe Flash continues to receive update after update when it's necessary.

Yes, Adobe Air still works with Adobe Flash, although many websites avoid using the same technologies in the same time.

AIR is a new platform developed by Adobe which allows developers to create rich applications which can be deployed over multiple operating systems without modifying application's structure. You will need this package installed on your computer just in case you will have to install an application which depends on this technology.

I have Adobe Air installed in my computer and I can't remember which program required it to be installed, if any. I've recently performed a deep clean to my laptop, which is quite old so, believe me, any MBs I can save will be precious.
I saw another post here about the functionality of Adobe Air and I understand that some programs require this software in order to run properly or at all. However, because I can't remember which lead to the installation, I'd kindly ask you if you could provide me with some examples of programs that require Adobe Air to run and, with or without those programs, which practical advantage does it bring to my laptop? I believe I've never seen it running in my task manager, thus the question about the value of its Installation and which well-known programs do not run without it.

Thank you very much in advance for your patience to read this enormous and probably ignorant question and for the time you kindly took to reply to it.

There are programs developed using Adobe Air technology. You can find some on the database of Software Informer. I have already linked you to a search result where you can see apps created on this platform. For example, Facebook for Adobe Air is one of them. You can access the application's page to find more about it.

Adobe Air is a new technology which allows you to build and deploy applications on all major operating systems and Adobe.com is the website of the developer where Adobe Air is hosted.

Close down the update using the X button or perform a forced close from the Task manager. Once you do this, please download latest software package and perform the installation. It will detect the install version and update if necessary.

I downloaded Adobe Air, but I can't install it due to "Adobe Air is damaged, please obtain it from the web" error. I tried to re-download it many times, but it didn't work. Can you help?

Download it from Adobe's website... If this doesn't help clean your registry with a good registry cleaning utility... This will surely solve your problems...

No, Adobe Air is not embedded in Google Chrome. Only Adobe Flash Player is directly integrated with Google Chrome and enabled by default. You can download Adobe Air from the official web page. Press the yellow Download now button, save the file to your computer and install the application following the self-explained steps.
